Fellow 2021 Graduates,

Today (or soon), we have graduated having completed almost 3/8 semester online. We can probably agree that none of us would have expected this when we started freshman year, eager to begin a new chapter in our lives.

Last Fall, I went through recruitment with Deloitte Consulting.

To prepare, I:

📚 Prepped for the case study 3 months in advance

🗓️ Participated in 4 Deloitte-sponsored events

And I STILL didn’t get an offer.

In 2018, I applied blindly to every internship that came my way.

I got lucky, and landed an internship at an amazing Software Start-Up.

So, you got the internship - now what?

When I was 16, I applied for an internship at Instagram.

The internship was meant for college graduates, and I was a junior in high school.

My dad encouraged me by saying that, as a teenager, I was Instagram’s real target market. He never once doubted my qualifications.

Why is this happening to me?

Is the question we all ask ourselves when faced with an unexpected issue

I’ve been struggling to find ways to be an ally in the workplace as ‘just’ an intern. I’m not in a position of power, nor do I make hiring decisions, making me feel like I can’t influence much change.
